lyrics
Håfa Adai Kia Ora from Aotearoa
With a fresh hot flow ah donne’ with a to’a
mango, travelling on pieces of the rainbow
bridge
Uenuku
in my ulu as I stay so
close to the pulu of the omen birds
listen to the oceans words
as I cruise through the unai
feet get fotgon when the tåsi gets magodai
give thanks to the taotao who help me ma’udai
with the kåna of the tåno’ I descend from
tend to chenchu’le ancestral connections
Ti mamaigo’ si Yu’os so we can’t forget them /
Step one / is cho’gue ya nihi ta fanoghe
Remembering the dance as I pray to all directions
protectors of the land hita i manggogue’
so we - know our manggåfa and our håle’
Activate our words to be the tåle’ that bind us
gather i babao from the spirits to remind us
I trust in my saina to guide me
align with faith in the timing
As I be arriving
in this land full of mana
i pick up the take’ and compost the tåki
Chanting O Manasaina Si Yu’os Ma’åse
Chilling Te whenua o Te Kawerau ā maki
let the hånom of the såddok wash me
clean as I sing to creations spring
I see the dinga' of Lasso' Fuha
Giya this whenua
Known as Lion's rock
But it's real names
Te Piha
